This game was played during the game testing of Politeia. The players pursued different paths towards the victory.
Athens (purple): Balanced strategy, allocating citizens all over the board
Sparta (red): Aggressive strategy, using citizens for wars and conquests
Thebes (blue): Peaceful strategy, focusing on colonies and defence
Korinth (green): Tactical gameplay, going for cheap actions
Argos (orange): Neutral, starts with 1 extra citizen in each city.
The action board is coded with black numbers
for the number of neutral action markers with colored numbers if any of them is a player action marker.
The player
table shows talents, citizens, talents in stock, citizens removed and hand (resources and buildings).
Actions are written with parantheses around actions not taken (i.e. the actions from which action markers are
taken and any actions where action markers are dropped without any action taken).

Athens starts with Build and builds the Intrigue building for 1 metal and receives 1 talent. Her idea is to build the Levy and Produce buildings as well
and use those actions to dominate Hellas. Sparta starts with Produce and receives 1 grain and 1 talent. Her idea is to prepare for battles by building a 2nd citizen
in a city. Thebes starts with Colonize and places 1 citizen
in Emporion. Her idea is to use the triangle Colonize-Trade-Import to build a colonial economy. Korinth starts with
Levy and places 1 citizen in Argos. Her idea is to take advantage of the empty actions left by Athens and/or Sparta
next turn for cheaper actions.

With both Levy and Produce occupied by opponent action tokens, Athens goes for Intrigue-Support. First she uses
1 talent to Support Salamis. This denies Persia absolute majority and returns 1 Persian to Hades.
Then Athens Intrigues for 0 talents thanks to her building discount and has the Argonaut removed to Elysion from the very same city and
the Persian returned. This earns Athens 1 talents and flips her building to the monument face.
Sparta is annoyed by this, since all place actions are now
occupied, so she retaliates with Trade-Tax to get even more talents and makes Athens' strong Tax action more expensive.
She takes 1 grain for free and Taxes 1 talent from Miletos.
Thebes would like to Import to take advantage of her 2nd colony but decides to do Produce-Trade first.
The empty Produce action gives her 1 talent and the Produce action another 1 talent and 1 grain. Then she pays
1 talent for the Trade action to take 1 oil for 1 talent. Not a very good deal but she does get 3 action
markers next turn. Korinth takes two "+1" actions with Build-Sacrifice. She gets 1+1 talents to Build and chooses
the Sacrifice building to get another 1 talent. Then she Sacrifices her marble and 1 talent for 1 citizen to
Elysion and gets back the talent immediately since she has the most citizens in Elysion.

Athens goes for a second Intrigue with Levy-Intrigue. First she gets 1 talent for the empty Levy action
and Levies in Sparta. Then she pays 0 talents to Intrigue thanks to her monument discount in this city and
earns 1 talent. Sparta
responds with Support-Battle. The empty Support action gives her 1 talent and she may now support Miletos for
1 grain and Byzantion and Salamis for 2 talents. Then she pays 1 talent to let her leader in Miletos Battle Sparta and
remove the Persian leader there, earning her 1 citizen.
Thebes had planned to Import but finds an even stronger move: Colonize-Revolt-Build. First she gets 1 talent for
the empty Colonize action and Colonizes Massalia, Cyrene, and Neapolis for 1 grain and 2 talents. Then she Builds the
Revolt building for 1 oil. Finally she uses building discount to take the Revolt action for free and Revolts
in Emporion, Cyrene, and Neapolis, removing 1 Athenian, 1 Korinthian, and 1 Spartan to Hades and receiving 3 talents.
This triggers the first Greco-Persian War of the game.

The Persians capture Byzantion, Miletos, Salamis, Athens (skipping the already occupied Ephesos), and
Korinth (skipping the already occupied Trapezos). Athens lose 2 citizens to Elysion and the others lose
1 citizen each. 1 Argonaut returns to the board from Hades to Salamis, expelling the Persian there back to
Hades. Athens and Korinth receives 1 talent for having the most citizens in Elysion and Thebes pays 1.
Korinth decides to increase her presence with Produce-Colonize, Producing 1 grain in Argos and Colonizing
2 citizens in Syracuse and Neapolis for 2 talents.

Athens can't resist the path Levy-Support-Tax-Produce, which will give her bot presence and income.
Tax gives her 1 talent for the empty action and 1 talent for Ephesos. Then she Supports in Trapezos for 1
talent (and removes the outnumbered Persian there) and Levies in Athens and Thebes for 2 talents.
Finally she pays to Produce 1 grain and 1 talent in Athens and Thebes. Sparta decides to go for
Support-Tax-Battle, although this will only give her 1 action next turn. She Supports Byzantion for 1
grain (removing the Persian there) and Miletos for 1 talent. Then she Taxes 5 talents from Byzantion,
Salamis, and Miletos. Finally she Battles Athens and Thebes, replacing 1 Persian and 1 Thebian and
leaving the citizen from Byzantion in Thebes.
Thebes finds herself too far from the tempting Import and Trade actions so she decides to go for 4 actions
next turn with Sacrifice-Revolt. She receives 1 talent for the empty action and Sacrifices it with another 1 talent
from her hand. Then she pays nothing for the Revolt action thanks to her monument but is unable to Revolt anywhere.
Korinth decides to beat Thebes to the cheap Trade action with Trade-Tax. First she pays 1 talent to Tax 2 talents
from Trapezos. Then she takes 1 grain for free and 1 marble and 1 metal for 3 talents.

Athens would very much like to Intrigue and rid Hellas of some Spartans but so she goes for
Sacrifice-Build-Intrigue. First she Intrigues in Sparta, Athens, and Trapezos, receiving 2 talents
for the 2 latter cities where the Persians get majority. Those talents she Sacrifices and receives 1
talent for the shared majority in Elysion. (If she had Intrigued in Thebes as well, she wouldn't have
got majority.) Finally, she receives 1 talent for the empty Build action and spends 2 talents on the
Levy and the Produce buildings.
Sparta doesn't worry to much and goes to Support to rebuild her army. She gladly pays 2 talents for
the action and another 2 talents to Support Ephesos and Trapezos. This gives her 4 actions next turn but
unfortunately replaces 2 Persians with 2 Athenians in Ionia but Sparta hopes for a Greco-Persian War before
Athens takes advantage of this.
Thebes is more interested in exploiting her colonies with Colonize-Trade-Import-Battle. First she receives 1
talent for the empty Colonize action and uses it to Colonize Syracuse. The she Imports marble, metal, pottery, and wine. Returning the metal and the
marble, she receives 4 talents. Finally she receives 1 talent for the empty Battle action and sends her
leader in Massalia to Thebes, although it doesn't get majority there.
Korinth believes it's in her interest to start a war and chooses Produce-Colonize-Revolt. She Produces
1 grain and receives 1 talent for the empty action. Then uses 2 grain and 2 talents to Colonize
Neapolis (getting majority against Thebes), Syracuse, Cyrene, and Massalia. Finally she Revolts in
Massalia (removing 1 Thebian), Syrcuse (removing 1 Argonaut), Cyrene (removing 1 Thebian), and Argos
(failing but advancing upwards). This earns her 3 talents and triggers the Greco-Persian War.

Persia attacks Trapezos, Byzantion, Ephesos, Sparta (skipping Miletos), and Salamis.
This sends 3 Athenians and 2 Spartans to Elysion with the result that the two antagonists
in the East both have 6 citizens in Elysion and both receive 1 talent. Korinth has only
4 citizens and has to pay 1 talent.
2 Argonauts return to Syracuse and Salamis, the latter removing 1 Persian.
The game was interrupted here to test a new version.
