Home Game Rules Theme Strategy FAQ

Through conscious choices, you as a consumer have the power to improve the world. Cheap goods are often cheap for the reason. The use of low paid labour and environmentally hazardous production pushes the prices down but also endangers our future. Will you be able to produce and trade consciously and economically for a better world?

In Fair Trade, you play both a farmer, investing in fair production, and a trader, buying fairly produced goods. You do this through secret bidding. The higher your farmer bid, the more you will earn from the trader bids. The higher your trader bid, the more fair trade markers you will earn. Most fair trade markers wins.

Fair Trade was primarily being designed for a call for game designers by Value Add Games to design a board game for an environmental NGO.

My name is Nicholas Hjelmberg and I am a hobby gamer since childhood. Starting with classic games like chess and RISK, I moved on to explore "American" games like Diplomacy and Civilization and then "Euro games" like Settlers and Tigris & Euphrates. Combining my game experience with my history interest and IT and quality profession, I have entered the exciting world of board game design and production.
