Abstract games like Chess and Go are timeless masterpieces that are likely to survive all the modern boardgames we know today.

Although Nova Suecia games focuses on custom-made boardgames, we have also designed abstract games that may be played with a simple rule set without sacrificing depth. It is perhaps even more difficult to come up with unique abstract games but it is our ambition to leverage our Vision within those limits as well. Enjoy!


  1. The ambition of Mount Chess is to be a chess variant where the players start with simple pieces similar to Go and Draughts but may mount their own pieces to get an experience similar to Chess and Shogi.

My name is Nicholas Hjelmberg and I am a hobby gamer since childhood. Starting with classic games like chess and RISK, I moved on to explore "American" games like Diplomacy and Civilization and then "Euro games" like Settlers and Tigris & Euphrates. Combining my game experience with my history interest and IT and quality profession, I have entered the exciting world of board game design and production.
