The kingdom of Sweden is emerging as a major European power and Queen Christina is looking towards the New World for expansion. As a governor of Nova Suecia, it is your duty to acquire land, build a sustainable colony and seek out prosperous trade opportunities. Occasional ships from the mother land will arrive to supply and demand goods but for the most part, you are left to your own. Beware, Dutch colonists have come before us and will not look kindly on Swedish ambitions. You will have to balance between cooperation and competition to succeed or the entire colony may succumb. Nova Suecia’s fate is in your hands.

Nova Suecia – the Last Letter Home© is a board game about colonization, trade and survival in the New World. The players must cooperate to build a balanced economy in the fragile colony since no player can control all production on his or her own. The governors need money and tools, the colonists need food and shelter, and the resources must be manufactured into tradable goods. Resource shortage will drive up prices for all and may end up in a downward spiral where the colony is lost to the Dutch. Each player must thus find a way to get the upper hand in this cooperative act of balance to emerge as a winner in the end.

"At first sight, Nova Suecia is a difficult game to get a grip on. The classical concepts of a traditional worker placement game are all there: you acquire land, place workers, construct buildings and trade for gold. However, as the game progresses, you will gradually realize that your actions affect not only your own score but also the entire game balance. The real challenge is to tilt this balance in your favour (but not too much because if the colony is lost, all players lose!)." (Boardgamegeek)
