Annotated Games: 4 players, version 0.3

This game was played during the game testing of Peoples - Civilizations. The players tried different strategies to assess how balanced they were.

  1. Babylon (yellow, peaceful): Build cities and trade with neighbors.
  2. Egypt (green, cultural): Spread monuments over the world.
  3. Olmec (blue, economic): Build a strong economy.
  4. Rome (red, aggressive): Expand, attack and conquer neighbors.

Round 0 (Setup)

Rome is the last player and selects starting part first followed by Olmec, Egypt and Babylon. Rome selects the part with the most land areas while Babylon has to make do with the part with the least land areas.

Babylon and Rome place their first tribes in food areas, aiming at a rapid expansion. Egypt and Olmec plan to advance early by placing in luxury areas. (Egypt actually places in a food area but as we'll see this tribe will be used for advancing.)

Round 1 (Civics)

In the first Revolution actions, the peoples use their default luxuries and commodities to advance their special traits and construct their special structures. Olmec and Rome grow close to unknown regions and add new regions to the map while the others grow within their known regions. Then it's time for the Civilization actions.

Babylon uses the Civics action to produce 1 shellfish in her town and add 2 more tribes to her hand. Egypt uses her special action Culture and makes an early advance to Culture 2 by laying down her gems tribe and using her default luxury. Olmec uses her special action Economy to trade 1 shellfish for 1 shellfish with the neutral tribe. Rome uses her special action Military to displaces the neutral tribe and plunder 1 clay.

Olmec uses her default resources and fur to advance to Economy 2 and construct a Military structure just in case. She decides to grow into the sugar area to keep advancing Economy. Egypt uses her default resources to advance to Religion 1 and construct a Religion structure. She grows close to an unknown area but reveals nothing but ocean. Babylon uses her default resources to advance to Economy 1 and construct an Economy structure. Thanks to her early food resources, she grows into 2 areas, revealing 1 new region.
