This game was played during the game testing of Chase the Cheese. The "slots" are referred to as 1a, 1b, 1c, 2d etc. Each turn is followed by a summary of the players' knowledge.

  • Player 2 (d-f): Cat, Cheese 4, Cheese 5
  • Player 3 (g-h): Mouse, Cheese 6, Cheese 7

  • Player 2: Cat, Cheese 4, Cheese 5
  • Player 3: Mouse, Cheese 6, Cheese 7

  • Player 1: Cheese 1, Cheese 2, Cheese 3
  • Player 2: Cat, Cheese 4, Cheese 5
  • Player 3: Mouse, Cheese 6, Cheese 7

  • Player 2: Cat, Cheese 4, Mouse
  • Player 3: (Cheese 5), Cheese 6, Cheese 7

Turn 4

Player 1 knows that all her cards are still cheeses and that the mouse may be with player 2 and player 3. However, she also expects player 2 to have the cat so she decides to take the risk and try to find the mouse. She chooses Cheese 1 and draws the Mouse from player 2. She finds Cheese 1 but doesn't exchange cards, since she now thinks player 2 has both the Cat and the Mouse.

  • Player 2: Cat, Cheese 4, Mouse
  • Player 3: (Cheese 5), Cheese 6, Cheese 7

Turn 5

Player 2 realizes that she probably has both the Cat and the Mouse but remains cool for the time being. She chooses the Mouse and player 3's Cheese 6, pretends she didn't find any cheese, reveals Cheese 6 and exchanges cards. The Mouse is now vulnerable.

  • Player 2: Cat, Cheese 4, Cheese 6
  • Player 3: (Cheese 5), Mouse, Cheese 7

Turn 6

Player 3, who knew that player 2 had the mouse draws the (wrong) conclusion that the Mouse moved on to player 1 and that player 2 didn't realize this. Expecting that player 1 also has the Cat, she choose Cheese 7 and draws player 1's Cheese 1. Surprised that the Mouse wasn't there either, she reveals Cheese 7 and exchanges cards.

  • Player 2: Cat, Cheese 4, Cheese 6
  • Player 3: (Cheese 5), Mouse, (Cheese 1)

  • Player 2: Cat, Cheese 4, Cheese 6
  • Player 3: (Cheese 5), Cheese 3, (Cheese 1)

  • Player 2: Cat, Cheese 4, Cheese 6
