Annotated Games: 8 players, version 0.4

This game was played during the game testing of Chase the Cheese. Each turn is followed by a summary of the players' knowledge.

Setup

  • Player 1: Cheese 1
  • Player 2: Cheese 2
  • Player 3: Mouse
  • Player 4: Cheese 3
  • Player 5: Cheese 4
  • Player 6: Cat
  • Player 7: Cheese 5
  • Player 8: Cheese 6

Turn 1

Player 1 draws player 2 (cheese). There is no cheese found but cards are exchanged. Player 1 is either cat or cheese, since a mouse would probably had found the cheese.

Turn 2

Player 2 draws player 4 (cheese). Again, there is no cheese found and cards exchanged. Player 1 is either cat or cheese as per the reasoning above. The mouse, whoever it is, should now have good information but so does the cat.

Turn 3

Player 3 is the mouse and, using the above information, draws player 4 (cheese). Cheese 1 is now found and she exchanges cards so that player 4 may find another cheese. It is now clear that the mouse is either player 3 or player 4.

Turn 4

Player 4 draws player 2 and finds cheese 3. However, since she is afraid the cat may be soon in turn, she doesn't exchange cards.

Turn 5

Player 5 is also afraid that the cat may be soon in turn and tries to expose it by drawing player 6. It turns out to be the cat and rather than risking a cat victory, she decides to exchange cards to try to take advantage of the cat's information.

Turn 6

Player 6, who no longer is the cat, thinks the mouse is now with the player 2 but only draws the already found cheese 3. She exchanges cards so that player 2 may try to find the mouse in her next turn. It is now clear that the mouse is still with player 4 and that the cat has moved to player 5.

Player 7 draws player 4 so cheese 5 is found. She decides to exchange cards in the hope that there will be more time to find cheeses before the cat's next turn.

Turn 9

Player 1 thinks player 8 didn't exchange cards and draws player 7. This only reveals the already found cheese 6 and she decides to exchange cards.

Turn 10

Player 2 now knows player 8 did exchange cards and draws her. This reveals the mouse and finds cheese 4 but she doesn't exchange cards. The other players now know that either player 2 or player 8 is the mouse.
