Annotated Games: 8 players, version 0.3

This game was played during the game testing of Chase the Cheese. Each turn is followed by a summary of the players' knowledge.

Setup

  • Player 1: Cheese 1
  • Player 2: Cheese 2
  • Player 3: Mouse
  • Player 4: Cheese 3
  • Player 5: Cheese 4
  • Player 6: Cat
  • Player 7: Cheese 5
  • Player 8: Cheese 6

Turn 1

Player 1 draws player 2. There is no revelation but cards are exchanged. Player 1 and 2 were most likely cheeses. Player 1 could have been the mouse and player 2 the cat, but then it would have been dangerous to draw the next card in turn.

  • Player 1: Cheese 2
  • Player 2: Cheese 1
  • Player 3: Mouse
  • Player 4: Cheese 3
  • Player 5: Cheese 4
  • Player 6: Cat
  • Player 7: Cheese 5
  • Player 8: Cheese 6

  • No cheeses revealed

Turn 2

Player 2 draws player 4. Again, there is no revelation and cards exchanged. Player 2 and player 4 were most likely cheeses as per the reasoning above. The mouse, whoever it is, should now have good information but so does the cat.

  • Player 1: Cheese 2
  • Player 2: Cheese 3
  • Player 3: Mouse
  • Player 4: Cheese 1
  • Player 5: Cheese 4
  • Player 6: Cat
  • Player 7: Cheese 5
  • Player 8: Cheese 6

  • No cheeses revealed

Turn 3

Player 3 is the mouse and, using the above information, draws player 4. This reveals cheese 1 and she exchanges cards so that player 4 may reveal another cheese. It is now clear that the mouse is either player 3 or player 4.

  • Player 1: Cheese 2
  • Player 2: Cheese 3
  • Player 3: (Cheese 1)
  • Player 4: Mouse
  • Player 5: Cheese 4
  • Player 6: Cat
  • Player 7: Cheese 5
  • Player 8: Cheese 6

  • Cheese 1 revealed

Turn 4

Player 4 draws player 2 and reveals cheese 3. However, since she is afraid the cat may be soon in turn, she doesn't exchange cards.

  • Player 1: Cheese 2
  • Player 2: (Cheese 3)
  • Player 3: (Cheese 1)
  • Player 4: Mouse
  • Player 5: Cheese 4
  • Player 6: Cat
  • Player 7: Cheese 5
  • Player 8: Cheese 6

  • Cheese 1, 3 revealed

Turn 5

Player 5 is also afraid that the cat may be soon in turn and draws player 2 with the intention not to reveal any cards to further erase the traces. Since the mouse isn't there, she decides not to exchange cards. The mouse may now be with player 2, 4 or 5.

  • Player 1: Cheese 2
  • Player 2: (Cheese 3)
  • Player 3: (Cheese 1)
  • Player 4: Mouse
  • Player 5: Cheese 4
  • Player 6: Cat
  • Player 7: Cheese 5
  • Player 8: Cheese 6

  • Cheese 1, 3 revealed

Turn 6

Player 6 guesses that player 5 is bluffing and draws her card. She reasons that even if she's wrong, it's safe to give the cat to the player furthest away from the turn. She was indeed wrong and exchanges cards.

  • Player 1: Cheese 2
  • Player 2: (Cheese 3)
  • Player 3: (Cheese 1)
  • Player 4: Mouse
  • Player 5: Cat
  • Player 6: Cheese 4
  • Player 7: Cheese 5
  • Player 8: Cheese 6

  • Cheese 1, 3 revealed

Turn 7

Given the latest play, player 7 thinks the mouse is still with player 2 or 4. She draws 4 and takes the risk of revealing the cards. She also decides to exchange cards.

  • Player 1: Cheese 2
  • Player 2: (Cheese 3)
  • Player 3: (Cheese 1)
  • Player 4: (Cheese 5)
  • Player 5: Cat
  • Player 6: Cheese 4
  • Player 7: Mouse
  • Player 8: Cheese 6

  • Cheese 1, 3, 5 revealed

Turn 8

Player 8 correctly guesses that player 7 exchanged cards and draws her card. Cheese 6 is revealed and she decides not to exchange cards.

  • Player 1: Cheese 2
  • Player 2: (Cheese 3)
  • Player 3: (Cheese 1)
  • Player 4: (Cheese 5)
  • Player 5: Cat
  • Player 6: Cheese 4
  • Player 7: Mouse
  • Player 8: Cheese 6

  • Cheese 1, 3, 5, 6 revealed

Turn 9

It's player 1's turn again and she assumes that player 8 exchanged cards and therefore draws her card. This was wrong so no cards are revealed and she keeps her yet unfound cheese 2 card.

  • Player 1: Cheese 2
  • Player 2: (Cheese 3)
  • Player 3: (Cheese 1)
  • Player 4: (Cheese 5)
  • Player 5: Cat
  • Player 6: Cheese 4
  • Player 7: Mouse
  • Player 8: Cheese 6

  • Cheese 1, 3, 5, 6 revealed

Turn 10-11

Player 2 has an already found cheese and she suspects that player 3 is in the same situation. Consequently, she draws player 3 and player 3 draws player 2. No cards are revealed and exchanged but the other players now understand that they have no cards of interest.

  • Player 1: Cheese 2
  • Player 2: (Cheese 3)
  • Player 3: (Cheese 1)
  • Player 4: (Cheese 5)
  • Player 5: Cat
  • Player 6: Cheese 4
  • Player 7: Mouse
  • Player 8: Cheese 6

  • Cheese 1, 3, 5, 6 revealed

Test ended to give more information and decisions with more revelations in version 0.5 (particularly players with found cheeses).
