The concept of a
cat-and-mouse game
is ancient and not very unique but this also makes it suitable for a family game.
I believe my first encounter with this game theme was the old Sega game
Mouse Trap.
The double chase, where a mouse chase a cheese but is also chased by a cat, provides
plenty of interesting game decisions.
The cat player may keep the card and try to learn where the mouse may be for an instant
victory or get rid of it to avoid ending up with the old maid.
The mouse player may keep the card secret and learn where the cat is first or
reveal it to find as many cheeses as possible before the cat learns too much.
In addition to the mouse strategy, the cheese players may even seek the cat card
and dump it on an opponent when it's too late for him or her to react. OK, the last
bit may not be that thematic.
