Annotated Games: 6 players

This game was played during the game testing of Mingle & Murder. The strategies applied were fairly straight-forward:

  • Guests: Steal primarily from rooms. Steal from players if a room of interest has been visited more than 4 times or if the player has 2 items of interest.
  • Murderer: Play only 1 Murder card per round. Prioritize crowded rooms.

The cards drawn are colored red for Murder cards, green for Catch cards and blue for Save cards. lightgray indicates that a room card was drawn.

Setup

The players were given the following objectives:

  1. Aunt Agatha: Murderer
  2. Colonel Clemens Clementine: Dining room, Garden, Dining room or Garden
  3. Sir Bertram Butterscotch: Cellar, Living room, Cellar or Living room
  4. Lady Sophie Sapphire: Library, Living room, Library or Living room
  5. Chambermaid Cherry Crimson: Cellar, Kitchen, Cellar or Kitchen
  6. Gardener Graham Grassleave: Garden, Kitchen, Library
  7. Valet Valerian Violet: 3 different rooms

(With 6 players, the Bedroom, the Dining room, the Stable and the Trophy room were excluded, thus modifying most players' third objectives to any of the two remaining rooms on their object cards.)

The first round sees a successful murder but the number of suspects are few. Besides Aunt Agatha, only Sir Bertram Butterscotch and Valet Valerian Violet visited the rooms visited by the victim Chambermaid Cherry Crimson. The Murderer will have to be careful the next round.

Meanwhile, Sir Bertram Butterscotch got off to a good start with two found room cards. Being one of the suspects, he's not likely to be targeted by Aunt Agatha either. Will he found his third card already next round?

The second Murder fails as the Murder card is found undrawn in the Garden! Instead, Bertram does indeed found a third room card in the Living room. However, Lady Sophie Sapphire, knowing that Bertram not only is close to victory but also has a Living room card, steals from him. She's lucky to draw the Living room card AND find a Library card that let her race past her brother and claim the victory! Perhaps Bertram should have avoided mingling with her?
